What is fondant??

Fondant is a pliable sugar dough that is used for a smooth looking cake.  Most bakeries use pre-made chemical tasting fondant but at Unique Cakes we make our own.  We make marshmallow fondant which tastes much better then traditional fondant.   
 
 
What are the most popular flavors?
 
Everyone seems to go for chocolate, strawberry, french vanilla and white chocolate but all flavors are really great.
 
 
Will you work with my budget?
 
Totally!   There are many things we can do to decrease the price of the cake and we will do our utmost to stay within your budget.  This may mean that you have to decrease the serving size to changing the designs but you will be much happier with our cakes then a generic grocery store cake.
 
 
Do you ship cakes or cupcakes?
 
We regret that we cannot ship cakes.  Shipping would be very high plus it would more then likely not arrive in the same condition.
 
 
Your cakes are beautiful, but do they taste good too?

We make all of our cakes and cookies to order. Which means they are fresh as possible and made with good quality ingredients. This means our cakes not only look beautiful, but they also taste delicious.

 
How much are cake tastings, and what do they entail?
 
Our tastings are free but are only available for cakes with serving sizes over 75 and all wedding cakes. If you should need to reschedule, or cancel, we ask that you contact us no later than 1 week in advance.
 
During the meeting, we will discuss the design of your cake, so please bring any pictures, invitations, etc, that may help us come up with something perfect for your event.  The tasting lasts 1 hour and we ask that you arrive on time to ensure that you are allotted your full hour. 
 

Do you make dairy-free or eggless cakes?

Yes, we do offer dairy free and eggless cakes but keep in mind we are not an egg-free or dairy-free facility.  Which means there may be some cross contamination of both eggs and dairy so if you are allergic to either please find a egg-free or dairy free bakery.
 
 
How far in advance should I place my order?
 
We’d like as much lead-time as possible…but if you have a short notice order, ask us, and we’ll try to get it done for you! Two weeks is the best or more depending on the time of the year but 1 week can sometime be done.
 
 
What are the differences between your cakes and grocery store cakes?
 
Our cakes are as fresh as possible, made with the best quality ingredients.  We pay close attention to the details of each cake to make each of our cakes as perfect as possible.  Grocery stores do not actually make the cakes in house, they have then shipped in flash frozen from a warehouse.  They use giant buckets of icing to fill and decorate their cakes, which are made with all artificial flavorings.  Once they decorate your cake, they will then put it back in the freezer until there is room to put it out.  It could stay in their freezer for several more months.
 
 
How long does each cake take to make?
 
Each cake will vary but the average is 8-16 hours per cake/per tier.  This is usually divided between 2-3 days.
